Course Overview

The Certificate IV in Project Management is a five-day interactive workshop designed to provide best practice project management skills and knowledge to practicing project team members, recently appointed project managers, aspiring project managers and business and technical professionals who work in a project environment.  They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

The course provides participants with a working knowledge of project management principles and processes and the application of tools, techniques and methods crucial to a successful project.  Participants will gain a basic understanding of both a Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), the Global Standard from the USA, and PRrojects IN a Controlled Environment (PRINCE2™), the UK Standard.

The workshop fulfills the requirements for BSB41507 Certificate IV in Project Management (AQF Level 4).

This course will provide practical experience on a realistic simulated project that will serve to reinforce lecture sessions, provide an opportunity to apply learning to your real projects and form a basis for your assessment.

Assessment

To successfully achieve the Certificate IV in Project Management BSB41507, participants must:

  • Attend a 5 day Certificate IV in Project Management workshop.  This workshop finalises the formal learning and supports participants in the development of a workplace portfolio for their assessment.
  • Complete a portfolio of work-based evidence during the workshop against assessment elements in the Assessment Record Book (with mentoring support available from Tanner James Consultants).
  • Attend an assessment interview to present your project evidence and discuss the application of project management competencies within the workplace, and
  • While most participants will complete the formal assessment requirements during the workshop, people who do not satisfactorily complete all requirements may finalise the assessment within three months of the completion of the workshop.  In such a situation, the trainer will coordinate with the participant to map out requirements.

Partial completion of your project portfolio will result in the issue of a Statement of Attainment covering the units of competency that you have successfully completed the assessment for.

Course Prerequisites

Participants must be proficient in written and spoken English.  Familiarity with Microsoft Project will be useful but is not required.
